The Blanche Ely JV team, after three weeks of practice, finally played its first game as the Tigers got swept 2-0 against the visiting Coconut Creek Cougars.
"The players were clearly nervous, having  never played any sport in their lives," JV coach Concepcion Ledezma said after watching his team drop the games 25-6, 25-18. "They understandably got caught up in the moment with the crowd noise, and with the overall setting of facing another team. Overall, it was good old-fashioned experience they gained from this match."
The opening game of the match was all Creek taking advantage of BEHS's lack of experience. However, the Tigers (0-1) finally settled down in the second game to make the match a little more competitive. In fact, the teams had battled to a 11-11 tie before the Cougars (1-0) earned the deciding game primarily with errors from the Tigers.
